Bus Éireann come on board the 6km Blue Balloon Fun Run & Walk in aid of the Cork Association for Autism
There was great excitement in Parnell Place Bus Station last week as Bus Éireann officially announced their collaboration with the Cork Association for Autism as a major sponsor in the fourth annual 6Km Blue Balloon Fun Run & Walk. This year’s event is due to take place in Blackrock on Sunday September 10th at 11am.
The scenic off road route will start at the Old Railway Line near Páirc Ui Chaoimh and travel along by the water before finishing up near Blackrock Castle. At the finish line participants will be greeted with light refreshments & family entertainment making it a guaranteed day of family fun and one for all the ages. Bus Éireann will be on hand to provide a free shuttle bus to escort participants from the finish line back to their cars.
With an expected attendance of 300 people the Blue Balloon Fun Run & Walk is a great way to raise awareness of autism in our community as well as helping to raise vital funds for client transportation services at the Cork Association for Autism which allow the people who avail of the services offered by the charity to access community integration and recreational activities. The transport facility is a fundamentally important aspect of the CAA’s services as it aids in achieving community integration, improving service user’s socialisation skills and promotes independence.
Martin Walsh, Regional Manager South, Bus Éireann said: “We are delighted to be involved in this event for a third year. The Blue Balloon Fun Run is a fantastic fit for Bus Éireann as funds raised on the day will contribute toward transportation services at the CAA. It’s a great cause and a great event for raising much needed awareness for autism in our community so we’re delighted to be a part of it.”
Participants are being encouraged to register online at www.corkautism.ie to book their place. Entry fee is €15 for adults, €5 for children under 12 and FREE with a sponsorship card which can be requested by calling Carol on 021 453 3642 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
