Golfers at the Ready…

The Cork Association for Autism (CAA) Golf Classic will take place at Mahon Golf Club on Thursday June 23rd.

60 teams took part in the event last year and the charity are encouraging golf lovers to sign up again this year and help them raise much needed funds for their services.  Teams of three are being recruited at a cost of €150 with the format being three ball better ball and there will be some great prizes up for grabs. Right Price Tiles and Wood Flooring have come on board as the main sponsor again this year to support this worthy cause.

The Cork Association for Autism provides skill development programmes and person centred supports to over 300 adults with autism. Services provided include Residential Care, Respite, Day Service, Home Support and an Asperger Syndrome Support Service.

Frank Murphy from Rochestown was on hand to launch the Golf Classic along with Cork Senior Hurler Stephen McDonnell and Cork Senior Footballer Sean Kiely. Frank aged 18 attends the CAA’s day service programme at the new Crobally Centre which opened in Mogeely last year. Frank started on the programme last September and his mother Anne says  ‘he loves attending day service and is enjoying his new routine. He is given social opportunities which he would not have otherwise and has made great friends there.  The staff are wonderful and we are so happy to see him settling in so well. He takes part in lots of activities like swimming, horticulture and woodwork and we can’t praise the service enough for the difference it is making to our lives’.

To book in a team for this golf classic, sponsor a tee box or donate a prize phone the CAA fundraising office on 021 453 3642 or email fundraising@corkautism.ie
