Press Release 6th October 2015

20 staff from Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Little Island and Janssen Biologics, Ringaskiddy travelled to Greenville House in Carrigtwohill recently to paint and help with gardening at the Cork Association for Autism’s (CAA) service centre which supports adults with autism.

A residential and day service is provided at Greenville House which consists of a five bedroom house and six two bedroom cottages. There are also two activity rooms, a therapy room, and a sensory garden at the centre.  13 individuals avail of the residential services at Greenville and 10 attend the day service.

“We wanted to give something back to the local community,” according to Christine O’Riordan, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, who co-ordinated the day.  “The CAA provides a great service to families in Cork so we were only too happy to help out.”

Marion Courtney, Fundraising Manager at the CAA thanked all the Janssen staff for getting involved in this project saying “we were delighted to have Janssen staff come down and give the centre a great lift and are very grateful to them for choosing us for their CSR day.”

The CAA provides a holistic model of care, one which supports the individual’s needs. The ethos is based upon a ‘home away from home, home for life’ principle and the focus is on developing the individual’s full potential. Service users are taught daily living skills and independent living skills at the CAA and the service has changed the lives of many individuals and their families.
