Robert and Marian Heffernan have lent their support to the Cork Association for Autism (CAA) in their bid to raise €30,000 on the 25th October 2012 during this Annual Flag Day.

The Cork Association for Autism supports adults with Autism and Asperger Syndrome – over the past three years the charity has experienced cuts of up to €118,000 and with the 2012 budget impending the race is on to raise €30,000 to help maintain exceptional autism specific supports for all adults and families who use the services provided by the charity.

The CAA was founded in 1978 by a group of parents in Cork with autistic children. They were frustrated by the lack of supports for their children and sought to rectify the situation. The CAA has been providing residential supports to adults with Autism since 1991.

What the CAA can promise is a commitment to ensure that all people with Autism are provided with an Autism Specific support or service that will enhance their lives, develop their potential and protect their entitlements to participate in the development of Society in accordance with their individual capacity and dignity as human beings.

The Annual Flag day is the ONE DAY that the Cork Association for Autism can ask the people of Cork City and County to be as generous as they can afford – as the charity is well aware of the hardships that face individual families financially at this time.  The CAA are asking everyone that sees them out collecting on the 25th of October to put in 1c – if this was to happen – our target of €30,000 would be reached!

If you would like to volunteer some hours of your time to help collect on the flag day please contact our office on 021 4271808 and talk to Louise, Dan or Catriona.

All support is greatly welcomed.
